I’m excited to share today a recent card design I created with matching shaker bookmarks. The theme?
Coffee and friends.

I’ve finally found a good use for some of my designer papers. One fault I have as a craft-lover is that sometimes I see something I like and buy it in the spur of the moment. That’s how I ended up with too many papers but zero ideas how to use them hehehe.
Anyway, it sounds complicated than it really is and in fact, this project is so simple I was able to make 8 sets in one go. 🙂
I’ll start with how I made the bookmarks. As in my previous post, these shaker bookmarks did not require a fuse tool.
First, I’ve printed the sentiment “SO GLAD FOR coffee & friends” on my designer paper. I didn’t have a stamp set for this sentiment so I decided to print them instead.

You’ll need to create a template first in MS Powerpoint but you can completely get rid of this process if you have an available stamp for the sentiment that you like. The size of each bookmark was 5.5cm x 10cm.
Then I cut each bookmark – all 8 of them. If you’re going to use stamps for the sentiment, you can start by cutting 8 pieces of 5.5cm x 10cm bookmarks first. Then stamp your sentiment.
After this step, I slid the each of the bookmarks into a self seal adhesive cello bags of the same size.
Then, I inserted some sequins at the front of the bookmarks. I only used 12mm sized ones so they don’t go behind the paper. I chose iridescent and about 3 or 4 pcs of teal coloured ones to make them pop out.
Then I sealed the bags, punched a hole and inserted a silver string.

Finally, I stamped and die cut this coffee cup 8 times and coloured them using watercolour pencils. The watercolour pencils I use were from Stampin’ Up! but you can use whatever colouring tools you like. I used bermuda bay and calypso coral. I wanted to keep the colour theme to these 2 shades.
I stuck them outside, at the front then punched some pink hearts to stick onto the coffee cup.

Next, I will show you how I created the cards. They’re so much easier to make than the bookmarks.
I started by using 8 pieces of C6 cards then I punched the bottom corners to make them round.
Then, using the same designer paper as the bookmarks, cut 8 pieces of 16.2cm x 2.5cm. Punch the bottom corners round too. These papers will decorate the bottom of the cards, plus a strip of ribbon. I used a darker shade of teal.

Finally, I stamped the image of coffee and donut from You & Me Clear Stamp Set by Sweet N’ Sassy. Lastly, I stamped this sentiment that says “how yah bean?”

It was the perfect gift to my colleagues whom I haven’t seen in a while since we started working from home. My friends were very happy to receive them.
Give this project a try. It’s so easy you can make as many as 8 sets in an hour. More cards, more hugs to send. 🙂
