Lawn Fawn Den Sweet Den Cardmaking Idea

Hello friends! A hearty Mother’s Day greeting to all of you. It’s the second Sunday of May again and for this year’s holiday, I made a simple card using the cute bears from Den Sweet Den Lawn Fawn stamps.

To create this card, I used the momma bear image that’s sitting up as well as the baby bear that’s reaching out. I wanted to create a scene wherein the mommy bear is reading to her baby bear so I also used some book images.

Then I also stamped the mug so it would look like momma bear is having a relaxing time with her baby, Lastly, I wanted to include the picture frame as well, but I replaced the words “den sweet den” with a photo of her baby cub instead.

To do this, I covered the words with a piece of post it paper. Then I stamped the sleeping cub image this time, I covered the frame part so I won’t stamp over it.

The Den Sweet Den stamp set from Lawn Fawn have plenty of cute images to create a homey and cozy scene, which is perfect for Mother’s Day occasion. Whenever I think of my mom, I think of home, even though I haven’t been there for about a decade now. But this stamp set can be used in various occasions including cozy Christmas and just a simple everyday card.

After I have stamped all the images I wanted to use, I coloured everything using alcohol ink markers. I list down the colours I used below but mind you, I mix different brands of alcohol markers (which I do not recommend based on my experience.)

I started buying cheap ones in the beginning then later discovered that the colours have big gaps of shades in between making it hard to blend colours. Anyway, in another post, I will discuss the brands I have tried, the pros and cons and why in the end, I decide that copics are still better despite the price.

  • Bears – Little Tipsy #92 Chocolate, Stampin’ Up! (SU) Blends Bronze, Copic Sketch E13 Light Suntan, Copic Ciao E33 Sand, Little Tipsy #29 Barely Beige (for the bear in the photo, I used only the last 3 lightest browns)
  • Mommy book and photo frame – Copic Ciao BG15, SU Blends Pool Party combo pack
  • Baby book and mug – SU Blends Flirty Flamingo combo pack, Copic Ciao RV42 Salmon Pink
  • Tiny heart and yellow background – Spectrum Noir GB4, GB3, GB1
Lawn Fawn Den Sweet Den how to make mother's day card

After I have coloured all the images, I used my SU scissors to fussy cut them. For the sentiment, I used one of the banners from Lawn Fawn Bannertastic. I used the sentiment from Lawn Fawn Happy Village stamp set which says, home is where the heart is. However, I didn’t stamp the “the heart” so I could replace it with the handwritten word, MOM.

For the panel of my card, I used the second largest die from Scrad Dragon A6 double stitched rectangle nesting dies. I adhered the banner first at the bottom. Then I adhered the mommy bear, cub, book, and mug using foam tapes for dimension. I used regular glue for the photo frame because it was supposed to be at the background.

Finally, before adhering the whole panel on a pink card base, I decided to add “happy mom’s day” at the bottom of the banner. This sentiment was taken from Lawn Fawn Garden Before and After stamp set.
