Hello friends! Today I’m sharing my latest cardmaking project, a birthday pop up card using 2 of my favourite sets – Penguin Palace Birthday Wishes stamp set and MFT Outside the Box Level Up dies.
If you’ve visited my blog more than twice, you’ll probably notice that I love pop up and dimensional handmade cards. There’s just something about dimensional cards, mostly the surprise element. I just love the wow factor the recipients get everytime they receive one. If you haven’t seen my post about how to make different pop up cards without special dies, you definitely should 🙂

For this birthday pop up card, I cut all the main parts from the MFT pop up box card dies set from a kraft brown cardstock. I formed the kraft brown box card first and used 2 inserts inside but you can use 3 if you like.
I cut 2 pieces of the small arched die from a smooth white cardstock. For the 1st piece, I created a clouds background using Stampin’ Up! Balmy Blue ink and a cloud stencil which I created by die cutting a thick cardstock using my clouds edge die cut. The 2nd white arched die was attached at the back of the box card for personal message.

Alcohol markers used:
- Skin – Copic E13, E11, E00, E000
- Reds – Ohuhu R6, RP1, R12
- Yellows – Ohuhu Y260, Y050, Y030
- Blues – Ohuhu B070, B050, B030
- Greys – Ohuhu BGII05, MG060, BGII03
Next, I decorated the inserts with grass cut from a die and enhanced its colours with Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Up! ink. I blended some ink on the top as well as splattered using the same ink and an aqua brush.
Then I stamped the images from the Birthday Wishes stamp set, coloured them with alcohol markers and fussy cut them. I added poles for the bunting banner and some tiny hearts for embellishments. Lastly, I cut a white piece of cardstock using the rectangle die from Outside the Box Level Up dies, inked it with Balmy Blue on the edges, then chose the sentiment “enjoy your special day” from the Birthday Wishes stamp set.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog! If you like this card, you can also check out ideas from Instagram at Penguin Palace Stamps and Hugs in a Card.
