Pop Up Thanksgiving Card

Cardmaking thanksgiving design with distress ink blending

Hello everyone! I’m catching up with another post sharing a pop up Thanksgiving card idea while it’s still shut-down period at work 🙃 this card uses MFT Outside the Box dies but I kind of modified the back panel part.

I started by die cutting the pieces first on a dark blue cardstock. For the back panel, I didn’t use the die. Instead, it’s an A6 sized cardstock which I scored on both ends at 1/2 inch. Then I cut the top corners round with a puncher.

I cut a similar sized smooth white cardstock but it’s smaller than the blue back panel by 1/8 inch on all sides. I blended the following water based dye inks from bottom to top:

  • Woven Lipstick – Tim Holtz distress ink
  • Rich Razzleberry – Stampin’ Up!
  • Gorgeous Grape – Stampin’ Up!
  • Night of Navy – Stampin’ Up!
  • Pacific Point – Stampin’ Up!

Then, I flicked some metalic gold and purple paints. I also added some white too. Once I was satisfied with the starry night sky look, I assembled the pop-up card.

Next, I worked on the elements of the pop up card. I stamped the images I used which were from Penguin Palace Stamps and Hello Bluebird. I coloured them with Ohuhu alcohol markers, the Aloha series. The colours I used were (listed from darker to lighter shade):

  • Lamp post – Ohuhu markers CG II 08, CG II 07, CG II 04
  • Lamp post light, saxophone, and songbooks – Ohuhu Y2, Y1, Y3
  • Microphone and songbook stand – Ohuhu CG II 04, CG II 00
  • Hair – Ohuhu E240, E220, E210
  • Boots – Ohuhu BG II 05, BG II 03
  • Girl 1 – Ohuhu V270, V250, V230
  • Girl 2 – Ohuhu R200, R160, R120
  • Boy – Ohuhu MG060, MG020
  • Skin – Copics E13, E11, E00, E000

Then, I positioned the images onto the pop-up card. The lamp posts at the back inserts, the choir at the front. I also created a bunting banner out of gold foil, folding the triangles over so it’s glittery on both front and back sides. Using a silver string, I tied the bunting banner on the lamp posts.

For the sentiment, I used a Poppystamps word die set cut in thick white cardstock. Then I painted it with metallic champagne gold colour.

And the card is finished! ❤️🥰 Hope you liked this design. You can check out Penguin Palace Stamps for the stamp set I used in this Thanksgiving handmade card.

Thank you! See you on my next post.
