My friend at work surprised me with a Himalayan Salt Lamp that changes colours. So I’m making her a thank you card to go with a little token of gratitude. I’ve had this thank you card idea on my mind for a long time too. Finally, I was able to realize that thank you card design. Just a little background story on the suprise gift.
We played Dirty Santa last December 2023 at work. So how it works is, we each get a number, the lowest one gets to pick a gift first, open it in front of everyone, and then the next one that gets to pick a gift and open it, have the option to keep his gift or steal the ones that were already open. Others make a rule that the first person gets a chance to steal after everyone’s opened a gift. Not us, we’re cruel hahaha. And lucky me, I got the lowest number so, I was like meh! Whatever, I don’t get to decide what I keep anyway. To cut the story short, I ended up with a bottle of wine and I don’t drink or I don’t know anyone in our circle who does. I didn’t want it to go to waste so I offered it to one of my friends at work and she accepted it.
Then one of my team mates messaged me just before the break to ask if I would like to have the Himalayan Salt Lamp (I believe she had “stolen” it from me, so maybe that’s why she asked me hahaha). Turned out her little boy didn’t like it either. So I ended up with a gift I like after all! Super happy!

That is why I am making her this pop up thank you card to go with a little token as a sign of my gratitude for her generosity. I used Lawn Fawn Platform Pop Up Die on a bright green thick cardstock for the base. You can watch my video tutorial on how to assemble a platform pop up card on YouTube. I used an old die set from Stampin’ Up! to cut out the word THANK YOU. I arranged the letters on an acetate sheet so it would look like the words are floating. I glued it onto the middle part of the platform pop up card.
For the strawberries, leaves, and flowers, I used Hello Bluebird Strawberry Basket Die. I cut 4 sets, so there were 16 strawberries in this card, using a watercolour paper for the fruits and flowers, and a green cardstock for the leaves. I coloured the berries using watercolour, mixing red and dark orange. I love using watercolour because it creates different shades so easily. For the flowers, I coloured them very lightly with yellow and then added accents in the middle with light red and orange.

I stacked the strawberries behind and in front of the word THANK YOU. I used more strawberries at the back, and then kept the strawberries at the bottom in front so they wouldn’t cover the message. I left 2 middle sized strawberries and stuck them on the sides of the front panel. Then I stamped the message So Berry Much with a white embossing powder. The sentiment was from Lawn Fawn Berry Special stamp set.

Finally, I added some red rhinestones to embellish around the sentiment, and the thank you pop up card is finish! I hope this thank you card makes my friend happy just as she has made me happy with her kind gesture.
