Hi! I’m so exicted to share my handmade card design for today: an interactive falling rain card! This is the second time I made this magical rain fall card. And also I made my own digital stamps for this cardmaking idea. 🙂 I will share the downloadable images throughout the end of this blog post.

Did I mention this card is not only interactive but also a pop up? I didn’t use a specialty die set for this pop up feature as well so any cardmaker can make this.

For the design, I had this picture in my mind for about a month but I couldn’t realise it because I don’t have the appropriate stamp images. My card design idea was a cosy indoor scene on a rainy day, a girl holding a cup of hot drink on her hand with her cat and books next to her. She’s right next to the window and her cosiness is a stark contrast to the gloomy view outside.

To create the pop up card, I cut an A4 cardstock in half, crosswise. Then I scored the piece at 1.5inches on both ends. The window was a pop up feature as well so that the beads (interactive falling rain) has space behind to move up and down freely.

I chose dark colours for this pop up card design. My daughters, the ultimate critics I always consult, said that it looked gloomy and it made me happy because that was exactly the look I was going for. I think part of the inspiration was also because there was a week in January when it was raining for days.

Although this cardmaking scene is gloomy, I wanted it to be about friendship, support, and hope. I have reserved this for a friend at work who has just resigned for personal struggles.

As I have mentioned above, the images I used were all designed and hand drawn by me. To make it digital, I had to ask my daughter’s help so from the paper, she turned these drawings into a png file.

The window was from Lawn Fawn Window Frame die and the sentiment, which was from Hello Bluebird Rainy Day stamp set, was heat embossed with white powder from Stampin, Up!
Lastly, here is a video of the pop up interactive rain card in action. I hope you liked it!
Here are the digital stamps you can use for free – right click and download to save the images you like. I hope you can find a project to use them and I would love to see your creations, do let me know and I’ll visit your blog or Instagram page. Thank you very much for reading through ❤️
