Welcome to my blog 😄 Today let me share a new cardmaking idea with you. This handmade card is for Nowruz, which I made for a friend celebrating the Persian New Year in March.

Now I have no idea how it’s celebrated but I wanted it to be special so I did a quick Google search on Nowruz. The image search resulted to a bunch of grass on a pot and I found a pretty one with tiny white flowers on them.

It turns out the grass represents spring, and this was the inspiration to my basket card design. I have this basket easel die set from Poppystamps and I absolutely love it and it’s perfect for this diy card design.

I used grey colour for the basket because I wanted the Nowruz grass to stand out and because this was intended for a male person, I used teal for the bow. I inked the edges of the basket with Basic Grey (Stampin’ Up!). It emphasized the embossing on the basket.

The grass die was from the same Poppystamps die set. I cut about 4 pieces of the grass and inked the edges with dark green to give them dimension. I stacked them together and was happy with the result. The Nowruz grass looks lush and thick. I added tiny dots for some flowers and this picture was my inspiration.

I inked the background blue to complement the bow. Inside the handmade card, I added a sentiment on mint green cardstock. I didn’t have a stamp set that says exactly Happy Nowruz, so I used one of my Stampin’ Up! set that has alphabets and stamped the letters individually.

At the front of the card, I decided to add a Hello sentiment in black to give the card design some contrast. The dies were from Poppystamps/Memory Box as well. Here is a video of the card. Did you like it? 🥰 Let me know in the comments down below.
