Easel Card No Special Dies

Easel card no special dies heart breeze simon says

My best friend surprised me with this flying hearts dies which I received in the mail back in January. It is from Simon Says, Heart Breeze Wafer Dies. I have been wanting to use it for a cardmaking project but life got so hectic. But finally, I did it! I’m so happy to share this new cardmaking project today, an easel card that requires no special dies.

To say happy is an understatement. I was overjoyed and I felt a little guilty because the shipping fees were overwhelming! And it’s such a pretty die set. I thought it would be perfect with an autumn themed card and because I was still hung over with my latest basket easel card, I decided to turn this card into an easel one too. You actually don’t need a special die for this easel card technique. If you have a big stamp image, they are perfect for this cardmaking project.

I haven’t used this stamp set from Neat and Tangled in a long time. It has a big image of two squirrels inside an acorn plus it’s autumn themed. Perfect! I also used images from Lawn Fawn You Autumn Now for the leaves. I coloured the leaves with a blending brush and water based ink dyes from Stampin’ Up! And Distress Inks. Then I fussy cut and run a black marker along the cut edges to cover the white spots. I coloured the squirrels and acorn with alcohol markers though, both from Copic and Ohuhu.

How to make easel cards no special dies

The card base I used for this cardmaking design is sized A6 which opens at the bottom. I cut a cardstock that’s 1/4 of a quarter smaller on all sides than my card base front, run it through a Quilted Background die set, and then run the Heart Breeze die at the top part. I cut another Heart breeze on red cardstock and glued the hearts and dots onto the green cardstock where I cut out the hearts and dots earlier.

Then about 2 inches from the bottom, I cut the front panel. I glued the bottom piece making sure it lines with the bottom of the back part. I used a white flap to attach my acorn image to the bottom edge of the front panel and then I glued the big leaves behind the acorn nut.

Then I added the sentiments from the same Neat amd Tangled stamp set. The outside sentiment was stamped on the acorn which finishes with another sentiment behind the acorn so that you only see the second message when you lift the easel part. The entire sentiment reads, “You are my favorite little nut.”
