I can’t believe it’s May already! I have made this shadow box card for April birthdays but as usual, here I am late posting it hehehe. This card design is inspired by my favourite season: Autumn! With it’s cool breeze on a warm sunny day, who wouldn’t want to take a bike ride on a beautiful park surrounded by trees of lovely shades and colours.
This cardmaking design is made from a kraft brown cardstock. I used Crumb Cake cardstock from Stampin’ Up! It is a toned down version of kraft brown and is perfect when paired with pastel colours such as light pink and mint green.

To create the shadow box card, I used half of an A4 cardstock. I have made a tutorial post on how to make a shadow box pop up card before which you could visit here. You can vary the scoring measurements on a shadow box card. WIth this particular cardmaking project, I scored the cardstock by the inches as follows: 4.25 – 5.5 – 9.75 – 11. This makes a perfect square front and back.
There is only 1 insert inside the shadow box card for the grass and fence. I also added another grass layer at the opening, sticking the piece from inside. Then I used Stampin’ Up! dies to build the bike and cut the flowers twice so I could put one at the back of the bike and one on the front right corner of the shadow box pop up card.

I realised this bike die set is really pretty but I rarely used it because it’s so challenging for me to piece them up together, especially lining up the circle inside the bike’s tires. Moving on with the card design, I used a white cardstock and ink blended it using Lawn Fawn’s brick stencil to create a nice background. Finally, I stamped this sentiment from Hello Bluebird Rainy Day stamp set: Just a note to brighten your day.

It’s not a regular birthday card but I really liked how it turned out. I would re-create this card project next time using different colour themes.
