Hi friends! Today I am sharing a spring themed card using Poppystamps Woven Basket Easel die set. It’s an easel card featuring a basket of flowers to express thanks and gratitude for a special someone. I designed this card for a friend whose mom is going back to their home country. I know, parting is such sweet sorrow and this card will express just how much thankful you are to have spent those loving days with them while they were with you.

This card design is an interactive easel card. The Woven Basket Easel Die set includes the die for the easel card mechanism and also accessory dies for the leaves, foliage, branches, etc. I mixed different distress inks to colour the elements.

This technique is so useful so you can stretch your supplies and create different hues and designs for your cardmaking projects. Sometimes, we find a colour scheme we want but then we lack the supplies to make it. I discovered that you don’t have to buy all the shades and different brand of ink pads in the world to create different colour schemes. Mixing them can create wonderful various shades.

For the flowers, I used Poppystamps Potpourri Flower Set. I used the 2 biggest flower dies, cutting multiples in a white cardstock and using a blending brush and different coloured ink pads, I coloured them from the centre outwards so that they are lighter from the outer petals.

For the orange flowers, I used Mango Melody (Stampin’ Up!) and Worn Lipstick (Distress Ink). For the pink ones, I used Real Red (Stampin’ Up!) and Worn Lipstick.

Using the same technique, I coloured the grass and leaves with Mint Macaron and Granny Apple Green (both from Stampin’ Up!). For the bow, I used Mint Macaron and Salvaged Patina (Distress Ink).

For the basket, I mixed So Saffron and Soft Suade (Stampin’ Up!), it’s a mixture of soft yellow and light brown. It was the perfect shade of kraft brown I was going for and worked well with the vintage look of the flowers and leaves.

Then I added these half backed pearls in the flowers centre and some rhinestones on the twigs for embellishment. I browsed through my old stash of stamp sets and found this sentiment from Live Like It’s Spring (Love Cynthia stamps). The arch on the word thankful worked perfect with the handle of the basket, doesn’t it?

That’s it for this special thank you card. It’s very quick to re-make although mixing and matching the colours did take a lot of time and thinking process. I hope you liked this design and see you on my next blog post! Thank you for visiting!
