Hello friends! Now that holiday season is over, I am sharing a different cardmaking project today. A pop up new baby card! It’s a handmade baby card I made for a friend who is still unsure of the coming baby’s gender. I decided that a sleeping bear and night sky would work best for a gender neutral DIY baby greeting card.

I love blue and gold theme and this cute baby card tutorial uses this exact theme. The handmade card is a normal C6 size card using the Night of Navy blue cardstock from Stampin’ Up! The front card is a simple night sky with clouds and a big gold moon. The clouds were cut out from a smooth white cardstock also from Stampin’ Up!

The moon was also cut from a smooth white cardstock (from Stampin’ Up!) however, I painted it with a gold metallic watercolour paint from Art Boxd. I splattered the clouds and bottom part of the moon with the same gold metallic watercolour. On the right top part, I stamped the sentiment “welcome little one” from Lawn Fawn stamps in gold metallic heat embossing powder. To complete the cute baby shower card design, I also added gold stars and rhinestones to embellish the night sky.

This baby themed cute card is also a pop up card. When you open the handmade greeting card, clouds and gold stars pop up around a very cute sleeping bear, which was a digital design created by yours truly, Hugs in a Card .

I splattered the night sky with gold metallic paint just like the one at the front of the card. I also used acetate sheets to prop up some of the gold stars and create a dimension. For the pop up mechanism in this new baby card inspiration, I used a pop up technique which I have shared on one of my old posts on how to make pop up cards for all ocassions. Don’t forget to check it out so you could re-make this card too. Don’t worry, all of my posts including this one, are cardmaking tutorials fit for beginners.

Finally, I added the words baby cut out from smooth white cardstock. Both cardstock and the alphabet dies were from Stampin’ Up! I added some Nuvo glitter drops on the letters BABY to give it some sparkle because other than pop up, I just love having sparkles and hhine on my personalized handmade cards.
I hope you liked this new baby card design and if you have creative baby card ideas to share, I would love to see them too!
