Poppystamps Challenge | Good Day Sunshine

Poppystamps challenge good day sunshine card design

Hello friends! I’m so happy I was able to join the Poppystamps Challenge this month again. I missed last month’s one which was cakes. Would have been great to use my most recent Poppystamps Corner Shoppe Dessert Stand craft die which I won from the previous challenge but sad to say, I didn’t have the time to create a card design. The theme for this month is Good Day Sunshine. I started early in the month brainstorming. Work has been really BUSY but I’m grateful to finish this in time.

As soon as I read the theme, a sunny day, I imagined this cute Hedgehog Poppystamp die strolling in the park, surrounded by lucious green leaves and bright red-orange flowers. I used a thick watercolour paper and used watercolours to create the background. I also coloured the inserts with watercolour. I know I need a lot of practice especially since colouring is my weakness. Also, I am not familiar with warm colours so I really tried my best to make this pop-up card bright and happy.

The pop-up form was made using Concord and 9th Card Stacks Base Dies. This die is absolutely one of my fave since I love making pop up cards. It’s so convenient to use and the finished handmade card fits nicely on a 5×7 inch envelope. I couldn’t resist using this very cute hedgehog die from Poppystamps. He looks really chill and he makes it seem like this is a walk in the park, literally. Hehehe. I coloured him with watercolour. Actually, instead of repeating myself, let me just say that everything in this handmade card was coloured with watercolour paints.

The fence was made using Mama Elephant Gate Fold Fence die. It’s so versatile but I have yet to use it on fence fold card. I cut the fence on a white cardstock and the split it in the middle to give me 2 fences, which I stuck on the backmost base on both ends. The tree is from Sizzix and then I just added the orange flowers which was from a die set from Mama Elephant Long Slim Window Dressing set.

I added gold rhinestones on the flower centres for embellishment and added a sentiment hello in gold cardstock. This is from Memory Box Brush Hello. Finally, the main sentiment was from Marzipan Greetings Poppystamps which reads You Are Awesome.
