Hugs in a Card

Hello friends! Today, I am sharing with you my handmade cake topper for my little one’s birthday. She thought of her own theme this year. Cats 🐈 😻 I had to search around Pinterest for cat cake topper ideas that will match her birthday cake, and this is what I came up with.

The only material I needed to buy was the PVA dark purple sheet for the face and paws. The details were made from cardstock, which I already have. I started by printing the head, paws, and details pattern, cutting the patterns, and tracing them on to the PVA and cardstocks.

I inked the heart nose and ears a bit using Distress Ink Worn Lipstick, so they looked darker than the cheeks, but they were all cut out from the same cardstock. I also added shading to the bow (Stampin Up Bermuda Bay ink) and drew some creases so it doesn’t look too flat. I was supposed to cut the marks on the cheeks. However, I decided to keep them so they look like whiskers instead of marks.

As for the paws, originally, I made 4, top and bottom pairs. But once I tried them on the cake, I got rid of the top pair because it made the cake look too crowded.

By the way, since I just love even the tiniest details, I added some white highlights on the cat’s eyes. 😁 I know it wouldn’t matter that much, but I think it looked cuter now.
